Art Licensing FAQs
➡️ What is art licensing?
Art licensing is when you ‘rent’ artwork from an artist / designer for use on products you sell.
You pay a fee to the artist (the licensor) to use the design based on agreed terms—like duration, product type, and territory.
I offer both non-exclusive and exclusive licensing options (explained below).
You can license:
• Existing patterns (from my portfolio or Spoonflower shop)
• Exclusive custom patterns created just for your brand
Licensing is flexible. Let’s find the right fit for your needs!

➡️ Non-exclusive and exclusive license: what’s the difference?
• Non-exclusive license
This license type lets you choose any existing design of mine to use on finished products in one category. You can have it printed by the manufacturer of your choice.
Other businesses may also license the same design at the same time, and the pattern will stay available on platforms like Spoonflower, where other people can buy fabric, wallpaper or home decor with that design on.

• Exclusive license
This license type gives you sole rights to use a design in a specific product category. We agree on all the details—like where, how, and for how long you'll use the design—before any design work begins. I retain the right to license the same design in other product categories unless we agree otherwise. For example, if you license a design exclusively for baby bedding, I could still license it separately for wallpaper. At the end of your licensing term, you’ll have first dibs to renew the design before it becomes available to others.
Note: You don’t need a license to sell finished products made from fabric bought directly from Spoonflower or other retailers where my designs are sold.

➡️ Can I license a pattern from your Spoonflower shop?
Yes, all the designs in my shop are available for licensing.
If you see a pattern you like, let me know the title or link when you fill out the inquiry form above.

➡️ How much does it cost to license a design?
Pricing depends on:
• Whether the license is exclusive or non-exclusive
• The number of designs
• Product category and duration of use
• Distribution size and territory
Once I know more about your project, I’ll provide a clear quote.

➡️ Can you customize the colors?
Yes—most of my designs are in vector format, so I can easily adjust the colors to suit your needs.

➡️ Are your designs seamless?
Yes, every design is created as a seamless repeat, meaning it tiles perfectly on all sides for continuous printing.

➡️ Can you provide layered artwork?
Yes, I can! Just let me know if your printer or manufacturer requires the file with layers.
